Tickets for darts’ biggest event, the sport’s showpiece showdown, were released for sale at 1200 BST on Monday to PDCTV Annual Members. The response was overwhelming, with the majority of tickets being snapped up within hours.
A small number of tickets remain for the second Priority Window, which opened on Tuesday for fans who signed up for free Priority Access. Surprisingly, there will be no general sale period as previously planned starting on Wednesday.
The high demand for tickets this year has led to some fans feeling disappointed at their inability to secure the tickets they desired. The PDC acknowledges this frustration, emphasizing that Priority Sale periods offer the first chance to purchase tickets, not a guarantee of obtaining them.
Changes were made for this year’s ticket launch, including restricting individuals to booking a maximum of four sessions. Table tickets are limited to six while tiered tickets are capped at ten.
The surge in interest in PDC events has led to a surge in ticket sales, with SeeTickets reporting numbers similar to those seen during their most popular gigs and festivals. Despite thousands of fraudulent attempts to purchase tickets, the SeeTickets software’s security measures prevented most of these from getting past the initial landing page.
While some tickets have appeared on resale websites, the PDC stresses that any tickets found to be resold in violation of their terms and conditions will be cancelled. These tickets will then be made available for purchase again through SeeTickets.
It is important to be wary of tickets being sold on resale sites, as many of them do not actually exist and are falsely advertised. Fans are urged to only buy tickets from official sources listed on the PDC website, with the legitimate resale market being the darts.
Efforts are being made by the PDC and SeeTickets to ensure tickets are sold to genuine fans, including identifying tickets purchased with the intention of unauthorized resale. This process is already in progress, as they strive to maintain the integrity of ticket sales for the upcoming event.
