In a stunning triumph, Greaves emerged victorious in the highly anticipated third edition of the Women’s World Matchplay on July 21st. Throughout the tournament, she showed incredible dominance, conceding just six legs in impressive victories over top players such as Katie Sheldon, Mikuru Suzuki, and Fallon Sherrock, ultimately retaining her coveted title at the iconic Winter Gardens venue.
The 20-year-old sensation showcased her exceptional skill by posting an impressive average of nearly 99 in the final showdown against Sherrock, another standout name in women’s darts. The clash between these two formidable competitors had fans on the edge of their seats as they battled it out on the grand stage of the Empress Ballroom.
Having already secured an impressive 23 PDC Women’s Series titles in the past two years, Greaves is now setting her sights on extending her incredible winning streak as she gears up to lead a star-studded field in Niedernhausen this upcoming weekend.
The upcoming fourth weekend of Women’s Series action in Niedernhausen, scheduled on August 10-11, promises to be a thrilling event, with Event 13-16 set to showcase the talents of top players like Sherrock on German soil. Sherrock, currently holding the second spot on the 2024 Women’s Series Order of Merit, faces stiff competition from Suzuki and Lisa Ashton, who are in close contention at third and fourth places, each having secured two titles this year.
The event will also feature standout players such as Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a multiple event winner on the Women’s Series circuit in 2024, and the emerging talent Gemma Hayter, who made waves by clinching her first Women’s Series title in June’s Event Ten.
The road to the prestigious Betfred Women’s World Matchplay in 2024 has officially begun, with the top eight players on the 12-month Women’s World Matchplay Order of Merit set to qualify for the tournament. The qualifying race will kick off at the H+ Hotel this Saturday, setting the stage for an intense competition amongst the top female darters.
Greaves’ recent triumph at the Women’s World Matchplay not only solidifies her return to Wolverhampton for the Grand Slam of Darts in November but also secures her a spot in the highly anticipated 2024/25 World Darts Championship. Additionally, the top-ranked player from the final PDC Women’s Series Order of Merit—excluding Greaves—will have the opportunity to join the Doncaster darter at the Grand Slam, with two more World Championship qualification places up for grabs in the last 12 events of 2024.
