The highly anticipated opening leg of the PDC’s World Series of Darts Oceanic double-header is set to take place in Wollongong on August 9-10. Sixteen players will battle it out for the prestigious title at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
On Friday, the first round will see eight PDC stars facing off against eight Oceanic representatives. World number one Luke Humphries will make his debut Down Under as he takes on Australian qualifier Joe Comito. Rising teenage star Luke Littler, also making his World Series debut in Australia, will kick off his title challenge against the experienced Rob Modra, a holder of 19 DartPlayers Australia ProTour titles.
Defending champion Rob Cross will face New Zealand’s number one Haupai Puha in his opening match, while two-time World Champion Peter Wright will go head-to-head against Australian fan favorite Simon Whitlock. Australian number one Damon Heta will headline the action on home soil against New Zealand’s John Hurring, while world number two Michael Smith will take on big stage debutant Stuart Coburn for a place in the quarter-finals.
In addition, 2021 World Champion Gerwyn Price will square off against the returning Brenton Lloyd in the first round. UK Open champion Dimitri Van den Bergh will meet DPA ProTour Order of Merit leader Jeremy Fagg in the tournament’s opening clash.
The action kicks off on Friday at 1900 local time (1000 BST) at the WIN Entertainment Centre, with the decisive quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final set to take place on Saturday, August 10.
Fans in Australia can catch the Australian Darts Masters live on Fox Sports, while viewers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland can tune in on DAZN. For global audiences, the event will be broadcast on PDCTV. UK fans can also watch live on PDCTV and ITVX, with ITV4 offering delayed coverage starting from 1900 BST on Friday and 1700 BST on Saturday.
