The latest installment of the PDC Asian Tour took place over the weekend of August 11-12 in Singapore, with some of the top names in Asian darts shining on the big stage.
In a thrilling treble-header, Lourence Ilagan stole the show by making it to all three finals and securing his second title of the year in Event 17. In the final, he faced off against the Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Alexis Toylo and came out victorious, after battling through tough matches against Yoshihisa Baba and Motomu Sakai in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
However, earlier in the day, it was Hong Kong’s Kai Fan Leung who grabbed the spotlight by winning Event 16, his second consecutive Asian Tour title following his victory in June’s Event 15. The 25-year-old overcame a tricky opener against Lok Yin Lee before sealing the deal with a nail-biting win against Ryan Khristoffer Condat.
But it was in the semi-final clash with darting legend Paul Lim that Leung truly shined, hitting a sublime 12-dart leg to secure a 5-4 victory and eventually defeating Ilagan in the final.
The weekend wrapped up with Event 18, won by Noel Nebrida, who managed to overcome Ilagan’s impressive 96 average to claim his fourth Asian Tour title of the season. Nebrida’s journey to the title included avenging a previous loss to Ilagan in the quarter-finals and battling past tough opponents like Sandro Sosing in the semis.
With just six events left in the season, the Asian Tour Order of Merit is still up for grabs, with Nebrida solidifying his position in second place behind Toylo.
The upcoming finale of the 2024 PDC Asian Tour will be held in Qingdao, China from October 4-6, with Events 19-24 set to be broadcast live on PDCTV from the last 16 onwards.
