The highly anticipated 2024 PDC European Tour is set to make a second thrilling visit to Belgium from September 6-8. This star-studded event will feature a 48-player field vying for the impressive £175,000 prize at the prestigious Antwerp Expo.
Belgian number one, Dimitri Van den Bergh, will have the home crowd behind him as he takes the stage in this new European Tour event. Van den Bergh will face off against 2023 UK Open winner Andrew Gilding for the chance to advance to the second round where he will meet Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko.
Fresh off his victory at the German Darts Championship, Peter Wright will be looking to secure back-to-back titles. Wright’s first opponent will be the experienced Brendan Dolan, with Martin Schindler waiting in the wings for the winner in round two.
The action kicks off on Friday with the first round split across two sessions starting at 1300 and 1900 local time (1200 and 1800 BST). Fans can expect an exciting match-up between James Wade, a ten-time TV title winner, and the in-form Cameron Menzies.
Other notable clashes include Jonny Clayton vs Dirk van Duijvenbode, and an all-Dutch showdown between Raymond van Barneveld and Maik Kuivenhoven. Belgian number two, Mike De Decker, will also be in action on Friday night against Richard Veenstra, while Joe Cullen and Callan Rydz are set for a thrilling face-off.
The seeded players will join the action on Saturday’s second round, with world number one Luke Humphries making a return to the European Tour stage against either Daryl Gurney or Ritchie Edhouse. Second seed Dave Chisnall faces a tough opening match against Menzies or Wade, while Gerwyn Price is set to go up against Luke Woodhouse or Luc Bogaert.
The formidable Michael van Gerwen will kickstart his campaign for a record-breaking 37th European Tour victory against either Gabriel Clemens or Martin Lukeman. Clayton and Van Duijvenbode will battle it out for a chance to face Damon Heta.
Luke Littler, the champion of the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze earlier this year, will begin his quest for another European Tour triumph against Jermaine Wattimena. Wattimena, on the other hand, will face Host Nation representative Brian Raman in the first round on Friday. The stage is set for an epic weekend of darts action in Belgium.
