Celebrating his 100th European Tour appearance in style, Chisnall emerged victorious in Belgium, defeating Ricardo Pietreczko 8-6 in a captivating match to secure his second European Tour title of 2024.
Joining an elite group of players, Chisnall now sits among just four individuals who have clinched eight titles on the European Tour, with an impressive six of those victories coming in the past two years.
Displaying incredible form throughout the tournament, the world number six took down tough opponents such as Chris Dobey, Peter Wright, and Gabriel Clemens on his way to capturing the title, maintaining an impressive tournament average of 99.35 and claiming the £30,000 top prize.
“What a great crowd these guys are, keeping up with us, and that’s the main reason we want to play darts so thank you to everyone,” expressed Chisnall in appreciation of the enthusiastic audience.
During his post-match interview, Chisnall commended Pietreczko for his performance throughout the competition, particularly after the German secured a spot in his second European Tour final by defeating Luke Humphries in the semi-finals.
“He beat the best player in the semi-finals, Luke Humphries, that’s a great achievement in itself,” acknowledged Chisnall. “But there has to be one winner, and that’s me.”
Producing a stellar performance, the 43-year-old landed three 180’s during the match and sealed the victory with a checkout of 115, showcasing his skills across the weekend’s play.
Reflecting on reaching his milestone 100th European Tour appearance in Antwerp, Chisnall remarked, “It’s been amazing. I’ve had a great tournament this week. I feel like I got lucky against Peter [Wright], but after that, I thought I deserved to win this tournament.”
